The best kind of windows to clean are the ones that are brand new and just put in. I personally prefer windows the have no French pane and have no fabrication debris. New windows are a breeze to clean since they don’t have any type of build up slowing your washing wand and squeegee down. With a new squeegee rubber and a brand new window its like taking a hot knife through warm butter. Those kind of windows make me happy I am a window cleaner because I know I am going to get paid well and have an easy time doing it. Older windows are alright but sometimes they can be the straw on the camels back, especially if they have fabrication debris and hard water damage for window cleaning. You throw in French pane on top of all that and a lot of bird poo baked onto the glass and you have your work cut out for you. When It comes to window cleaning you shouldn’t count on the honey windows as those are few and far between. Instead you should count on the worst windows as those are more common and every window is different.
When you approach a window to clean you really need to be looking for all the different things wrong with it. There can be cement, stucco and mud on the glass or their can be bird poo, silicone, fabrication debris and dog snot to name a few. Every thing is treated differently and must be addressed to clean the window right. Often times if a window has a lot of damage, the customer is not going to pay to have it cleaned up the right way so you just do what you can to make them look good. A basic window cleaning of bad windows however is not going to make them look like new and if a customer thinks otherwise you’ll have to explain the different service types you offer. Don’t let a window cleaning customer force you into doing more then what they are paying for.
